Barbara J. Croy died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, April 13, 2018.
She was born on March 1, 1934, in Los Angeles, California, to George Christian and Velma Fairy Bondley. The family moved to Las Vegas, NV when Barbara was 6 months old.
Barbara spent her childhood and early adulthood in Las Vegas where she met and married her late husband Daniel Croy. They lived in Turkey for a few years and traveled Europe.
After moving to Gillette, WY, she became very involved with the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Young Eagles program where she became a pilot and taught ground school.
When Barbara retired from Frontier Airlines, in Denver, CO she met and moved to Grants Pass Oregon with Don Thomas. She loved to fish, play the organ and was an enthusiastic genealogist and gardener. She was a resident of Grants Pass when she died.
Barbara was preceded in death by her son Randy Croy, her grandson Michael Wassmann and her great great granddaughter Aubryella Gunn. She is survived by a son David Croy of Medford, OR and three daughters, Jana Croy (Darcy) & Cher McDill (Rick) of Brooksville, FL and D’Anne Sano (Steve) of Las Vegas, NV, 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. They all affectionately referred to her as “Big Red” for her fiery red hair and personality.
Services will be held at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
