Arthur W. Frenzel

December 27, 1918 — January 17, 2009

Former Grants Pass resident, Arthur W. Frenzel, age 90, of Brookings, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at his home.

No services will be held. Mr. Frenzel’s ashes will be scattered at sea by the
U.S. Coast Guard. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Remembrances may be made in his name to South Coast Humane Society, P.O. Box
7833, Brookings, OR 97415.

He was born Dec. 27, 1918, in Santa Monica, Calif., to Arthur William
Frenzel and Thelma P. Brandt Frenzel. He graduated from Belmont High School in Los Angeles in 1931. Mr. Frenzel served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, retiring as a
lieutenant commander, and served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps. He was
also a retired banker. He married Mary Lou Worden, Dec. 11, 1971, in Newport Beach, Calif. The couple made their home in Southern California before moving to Rogue
River in 1988 and then to Brookings in 1994.

He was a member of Retired Officers Association, Fleet Reserve Association, and AARP (American Association of Retired Persons). He was a dedicated volunteer, active with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Consumer Affairs Office, SCORE (Counselors to Americas Small Business), Multi-Service Center in Rogue River. In Brookings he volunteered with port security and welcome center.

Mr. Frenzel and his wife enjoyed many travels and RV travel in the states.
He appreciated the joy of laughter and bringing smiles to people, his family
said. He also enjoyed collecting boxes for moving and donated them to people
in need of them in the community. He was known as “the box man” at the Curry
Coastal Pilot.

Survivors include his wife Mary Lou Frenzel of Brookings; sister Faith Stoughton of Merritt Island, Florida.; sons Karl S. Frenzel of Penn Valley, California, Kurt G. Frenzel and wife Susan of King City, California; grandsons Erik Frenzel and Forrest
Frenzel and wife Misty of Grass Valley, California Also surviving are many
nieces and nephews.
