Arthur Frank Jubera, age 90, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at his home.
Art was born October 9, 1920 in Redlands, California. He grew up in Port Hueneme, California where he met and married, Helen Merrill. In July 1942 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in the South Pacific. He also served in the consolidation of the Solomon Islands and Okinawa Operation. In 1948 he moved his family to Grants Pass, Oregon. He worked in Southern Oregon’s lumber industry at several local mills retiring in October 1973.
Art enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, sports of all kinds, and especially family gatherings, parties, and BBQs keeping up with family activities. In his later years he enjoyed his big screen TV, recliner, and the remote control.
Art had a special bond with fellow Marine comrades who were true loyal friends for 69 years, Fred “Doc” Hanson and O.J. Melvin.
Art is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen Jubera of Grants Pass, Oregon; four daughters, Patricia Winterbottom and Sandy Chillrud both of Grants Pass, Oregon, Judy Jubera (Ross) of Medford, Oregon, Lisa Brown (Dennis) of Lakeview, Oregon; a son, Ron Jubera of Grants Pass, Oregon; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandsons; and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Butch Jubera Jr and four grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17, 2011 at St. Anne Catholic Church. Military Honors will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Lovejoy Hospice, 939 SE 8th Street, Grants Pass, Oregon 97526 in memory of Art Jubera.
