Arlis Charles Hay of La Pine, Oregon passed peacefully surrounded by family, on June 30, 2022, in Grants Pass, Oregon at the age of 90.
Arlis was born to Mabel L (Hartman) Hay and Erwin Herman Hay on January 21, 1932. Born and raised in Tripoli, Iowa as the oldest of three, he grew up working a large farm. He was a 1950 graduate of Tripoli High School. Arlis was a decorated veteran of the US Army, joining in 1952 serving as a Sergeant in the Korean War. In 1958, he married the love of his life, Iva D. Mollenhauer. Together they raised their three children in Simi Valley, California; later retiring in La Pine.
Arlis cherished memories of hunting, trapping, gold panning, rock hounding, woodworking and especially fishing.
Survivors include his sister, Shirley Thompson of Akron, OH; son, Charles Hay of Grants Pass; daughter, Dawn Swink of Grants Pass; grandchildren Billy Swink, Timothy Swink, Amber Sarmento, and Dana Swink; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; a sister, Marilyn (Hay) Weber; and a son, Jeffrey Hay.
Arlis will be remembered as a loving, witty, and traditional man.
Visitation will be held in his honor from 11:00 AM-Noon on Friday July 22, 2022, at Faith Lutheran Church in La Pine, Oregon. Graveside services will follow at 12:30PM at La Pine Community Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors.
