Arlene Root

Arlene Root, age 72, of Cave Junction, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

A Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2009 at Illinois Valley Funeral Directors.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2009 at St. Patrick’s of the Forest Catholic Church in Cave Junction. Interment will follow at Laurel Cemetery. A gathering will follow at the church after the cemetery committal. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Arlene was born November 6, 1936 in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin to Nicolas & Agnes (Keeler) Carras. As an infant, she moved with her family to Oakland, California. In the late 1950s she received her Associates degree from Richmond College and worked as an LPN. In 1989 she moved from Durham, California to Cave Junction. Locally she worked as an LPN for local nursing homes and home health care.

Arlene was a member of St. Patrick’s of the Forest Catholic Church for many years.

She enjoyed playing cards, computer games, sewing, and making rosaries.

Survivors include a daughter, Victoria Jorgensen of Oroville, California; a son, Steven Dean of Merlin; a sister, Patricia Shafer of Cave Junction; a brother, Bud Keeney of Durham, California; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Hudson in 1986.
