Alma Lorene Bowyer

Alma Lorene Bowyer, age 87, of Merlin, died Monday, January 10, 2011 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Private services were held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Alma was born February 18, 1923 in West Jersey, Illinois to Amos & Grace Chesser. She was raised and lived in Kewanee, Illinois until moving to Grants Pass in 1974. In 1978 she moved to Merlin.

Her hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping, and puzzles.

Survivors include 13 children, Vern Frail of Kewanee, Illinois, Sharon Morris of Nashville, Tennessee, Diana Watts of Kewanee, Illinois, Emily Davis of Saguache, Colorado, Orris James Bowyer II “Buck” of Merlin, Oregon, Loretta Deardorff of Merlin, Oregon, Edward Bowyer of Merlin, Oregon, Robert Bowyer of Buda, Illinois, Dale Bowyer of Buda, Illinois, Judith Smith of Merlin, Oregon, Mary Warden of Merlin, Oregon, Charles Bowyer of Grants Pass, Oregon and Roy Bowyer of Merlin, Oregon; a brother, Clark Chesser of Warrenton, Oregon; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orris James Bowyer Sr in October 1973; and two children, Alice Moreland in September 2008 and Bernard Bowyer in February 1984.
