Albertha “Dolly” Woodruff passed away peacefully on February 24, 2024. She was born on February 26, 1937 in Bermuda, where she met and married Ralph “Woody” Woodruff on April 30, 1953. Woody was stationed in Bermuda with the U.S. Air Force.
They had their first son Dan in Bermuda. They then were stationed stateside where their second son, Cliff was born in New York. Next they were sent to France where their daughter Claudette was born. Wyoming was their destination after France, where their third son Dale was born. When Woody retired from the Air Force in 1970, the family ended up in Grants Pass, where their fourth son Scott was born.
Dolly was a hardworking Mom, taking care of her kids, gardening and canning and working to make ends meet with five kids in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. She and Woody started Merlin Bargain Center after Woody’s retirement. Many people in the Merlin and Hugo area remember them from their time at the store.
Dolly loved to drive fast. Her favorite car was a shiny red Sebring convertible that she loved to drive to the coast with the top down.
Later in her life she lived at Family Flair Adult Foster Home, where she kept Teresa and her wonderful staff on their toes with her wit, warmth and sass. Her family is certain that her life was extended and made better by being at Family Flair.
Dolly left her five kids, daughter-in-laws, 13 grandkids and 13 great grandkids and friends. She lived a good long life and is at peace.
